What is the PTI philosophy?
Our mission is to get results. From the physical fitness goals of our clients to the business goals of our franchisees, the PTI model has been created to achieve long-lasting results.
Why is PTI better for members and franchisees than another health club or gym concept?
We know the only way to achieve fitness goals is through an approach that integrates working out with eating right. We're the only fitness franchise to combine one-on-one strength training with customized nutritional counseling. As a result of our remarkable 80% success rate with members, they stay with PTI approximately two years, seeing their nutritionist weekly and working out with their trainer two to three times a week. That translates to great retentionrates and higher revenue per member.
Who is your competition? And why is PTI better?
The health and fitness industry is highly competitive-and just as fragmented. PTI competes with several varieties of facilities promising consumers physical fitness, including full-service health clubs, weightlifting gyms, personal training facilities, independent personal trainers and, today's most rapidly expanding market, the 30-minute workout facilities geared toward women. PTI offers customers personalized attention and dedicated staff members. But the most significant difference between PTI and the competition is our mandatory and extensive integration of fitness and nutrition. Our integrated approach also explains why so many of PTI members attain-and maintain-their desired results.
What is PTI's exercise protocol?
Most people, on their own or at other fitness facilities, will do three sets of approximately 10 reps pumping weights. PTI recommends and coaches "one set to fatigue," a more effective form of strength training utilizing 16 different Nautilus strength-training machines. Members wear heart monitors so the trainer can be assured they are optimizing their workouts.
What is PTI's nutritional protocol?
During initial member consultations, we take measurements of their body fat and determine their metabolic age. Members subsequently meet weekly with their nutritionist to monitor caloric intake and portion control based on the ADA food pyramid and the weight, age and other specifics of the individual member. Members also keep a food diary. This proven strategy helps PTI nutritionists confidently manage member weight loss expectations-and equips PTI members with a new awareness about what and how much they eat.
Do I need to be a personal trainer or nutritionist to own a PTI franchise?
Knowledge of fitness and nutrition is helpful, but not required. Owner training includes fitness and nutrition
instruction. You'll learn how to be a trainer as part of our certification process. We also help you with hiring and training, so you find smart, motivated employees.
What does a PTI location look like?
PTI is unlike the big-box gyms or a storefront workout center that many think of when they think of fitness
franchise opportunities. Our studios are intimate spaces ranging 2,000-2,500 square feet. Typically located
in city and suburban shopping areas that offer convenient access and parking, our locations feature 16
strength training and nine cardiovascular machines and separate areas for member consultations.
How much money will I make owning a PTI franchise?
You'll make more with PTI than with our leading competitors. Our footprint allows for multiple trainers to work at the same time, maximizing your revenue potential. Our closest competitors can only train two to three
people even at peak times, limiting your earning potential.
What are the financial requirements of ownership?
The estimated initial investment starts at $99,380. This includes the franchise fee ($19,500 per location),
start-up costs, equipment, leasehold improvements and supplies. These costs may vary, depending on the
individual location and the size of the operation. Eligible candidates must have $50,000 in liquid assets.
Each agreement is for a 10-year period, with two renewal terms of five years each.
Does PTI offer financing?
While PTI does not provide direct or indirect financing, we do recommend third-party sources.
PTI is an approved participant in the SBA Registry (Small Business Administration). Your fitness
equipment can be financed through one of our manufacturers' lease programs.
What are the franchise royalty fees?
PTI's royalty fee equals 5% of gross revenue for each location.
Can I open multiple locations?
Personal Training Institute encourages franchisees to open multiple locations, subject to availability and eligibility criteria. Franchise fees may be discounted for multi-unit owners.
How will I identify and design my facility location?
We will provide you guidance in finding the best site for your needs and desires. We will also give you exact
specifications and provide guidance during all phases of the construction process.
Will I get a protected territory for my franchise?
Yes. Personal Training Institute franchisees get a protected territory for each location.
What does franchisee training include?
Franchisee training includes a full 10-day program at our New York headquarters. Instruction includes fitness and nutrition, operations, products and services, computer and office systems, business management, marketing and public relations. You also receive a comprehensive training manual to take back to your location.
What support will I receive after my training is complete?
Because we realize that becoming a PTI owner is a lifestyle change as major as becoming a PTI member, we provide coaching, ongoing support and direction every step of the way. To help you achieve your business goals and stay on top of the ever-changing fitness and nutrition fields, we offer helpful newsletters, networking opportunities, professional growth and development meetings, site visits, an annual conference and a Franchisee Representative Council
comprised of your owner peers.
What are the typical hours of operation?
Most PTI locations are open Monday through Friday 6 AM to 9 PM, Saturday 7 AM to 1 PM, and closed Sunday-so you still have weekend time for yourself and your family.
