PTI Franchisee Joe Hlavenka finishes in the top 50% of the Dallas Marathon

Here’s Joe Hlavenka, one of our California franchisees who will soon to be opening in the Valley.   This shot was taken about mile 22 during the Dallas Marathon. Over the past year Joe entered and completed four marathons; Los Angeles – May 2009 (4:44), New York City – November 2009 (5:07), Los Angles - March 2010 (4:45) and Dallas – April 2010 (4:42).

Another Classic PTI Story:

Client #2 is a 44 year female. The day she came in for her first workout she said to me “I run 4-5 times a week, 5 miles each time. I love to work out, but I never change size or shape. I don’t lose weight, but I want to feel like I’m getting a good workout”. Though she does not want to know the official amount yet (she wants to wait a month to see her weight loss), we put her on the scale last night and she has lost 8 pounds so far. She started March 22nd.

What to know before you shovel snow

Shoveling snow can be a great way to burn calories this winter.  Especially today in the Northeast!

Before you go out, here are some things to remember:

  • Have a good healthy breakfast
  • Make sure to warm up your muscles before you start shoveling
    • Examples: do some light indoor cleaning, walk around, ten minutes on the treadmill, etc.
  • And don’t try to be a superhero, only shovel what you can comfortably handle
  • Periodically monitor your heart rate

At the end of one hour you will have burned OVER 200 calories!!

The Big Long Island Million Pound Challenge

Calling all Long Islanders!

Personal Training Institute, the Navel Expo, and Strength for Life need your help to raise money for people struggling with cancer.  You can help raise money by losing excess body fat, getting in shape, and reaching your target goal weight.  For every one pound of body fat you lose, $1 goes towards helping people with cancer get a free exercise program.

How do I get started?

Registration begins March 2nd. Sign up at your local Personal Training Institute fitness center.  Set your goal weight, take a ‘before’ picture and invite your friends to sponsor you at $1 per pound.

All proceeds to benefit Strength for Life, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to assisting people living with cancer, reclaim their lives by providing a safe and effective exercise program FREE OF CHARGE.

Don’t forget to mark your calendars for the NAVEL Expo at the Huntington Hilton, Long Island on May 2nd.  We will be exhibiting, so be sure to stop by the PTI booth.
